Land Saies Committee The rural committee of the Land Saies Court will hold a sitting in Levin on Tuesday next at 10 a.m. Licensing Committee The quar-terly meeting of the licensing committee was- held in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, today, but was adjourned till, March i4. Hall Shield Cricket A further series of games in the ;econd round of the Horowhenua Cricket Association's Hall Shield competition will be played tomorrow. The following is the draw: Old Boys v. Foxton, at Foxton; Paraparaumu v. College A, Levin Domain; Levin v. Otaki B, Levin defaulted; Weraroa v. College B, Levin Domain; Otaki A v. Shannon, at Shannon; Rangitikei v. Horowhenua, 10 a.m-., at Weraroa. Restricted Wool Offerings No offerings 'of ' greasy' stock wools which will;interfere with . the sale and shipmerit of growers' current clip wool will be made by the New Zealand Wool Disposal -Commission during the remainder of . the current season. Its offerings will most likely be confined to limited quantities of scoured and slipe wools. Thisnnformation was given 3y the commissiOn to the New Zealand Wool Board during discussions m the recent delay and inconveriience caused to growers in the sale of their wool. Sheepraising in U.S.A. Sheepraising in the United States is a rapidly dying industry and only the immediate adoption of a long-term Governmcnt policy will save it from complete extinction in less than 10 years, according to Mr. Sylvan Pauly, president of the American National Woolgrowers' Association. Mr. Pauly expressed jhis opinion before the House Agricultural Committee which is examining proposals to impose quotas on foreign wool. He de'clarid that quotas were the only ilternative to adequate tariff protection. | Accident to Prisoner Injuries received in an accident - - at his -home prevented a prisoner from appearing for sentcnce before Mr. Justice Johnston in the Auckland Supreme Court. The prisoner was Ronald 1 Holmes, salesman, aged 33, who was called for sentence on three charges of false pre;ences.- His counscl said he had just receiyed word that he had met with a serious accident. Sentence was postponed. While chopping 1 vood Holmes suffered a compound fracture of the left index finger and severed the tendons of the left hand. He was admitted to Auckand Hospital where his condition vas reported to be quite satisfacory. College Record Broken A school record was broken at the Horowheirua College preliminary meeting to the annual sports, which will be held on Tuesday. Two r,aces were run vesterday, the senior and junior milcs, and in the senior even't, I. Mudge lower ed the school record by 12 1-5 secs to 4 mins. 55 secs. in an excellent race. Mudge, who is an experienced nalder, took the lead in the third lap and finished with a good 100 yard 3print to win by 30 yards. The results of the races were: — Senior ne mile: I. Mudge 1, A. Buchannan 2, P. Thorpe 3; time, 4 mins. 5& "qcs. Junior one mile: p. Roach 1, B. Swan 2, H. Grey 3; time, 5 mins. 26 1-2 secs. A full day's sports programme will be held on Tuesday, and all interested are cordially invited to attend. .
