Aceprding to the minute bhok a Gpufnament wai held in. Levin on September 9, 1940. A lapse foliowed, and the eommittee again. met on December 5, 1943. Then there was a space to Qctpber 17, 1944, and agaih to May 5, 1943, A further eommittee meeting was field on May 1, 1946, and the last annual general meeting on May 14, 1946. Frpm this date onwards the club has been functicning normally.
"A gymnasium was opened in the Regent Hall on June 10, 1946, and continued weekly till October 21, 1946. As well as instruction in boxing, the gymnasium inqorporated physicai ciilture. A number of instructors gave of their best tuition,. and this branch proved very popular. Owing to the short sea=r son, the eommittee thought it unwise to stage a gym display, but hope to be in a position- to do S0 this coming year. , . "One lad from our club participated at Feilding and fought a draw, which your executive considered very creditable. "Two tournaments were staged in Levin during the seaspn. The first was held in ihe Regent Hall on August 26, 1946, when a' capacity house greeted the effort: The foltowing gyms were represented : Marton, Feilding, Ashhurst, Warnes, Kiwi, Otaki and Levin. A number of excellent bouts were staged. The second tournament was staged in the Regent Theatre on September 30, 1946, and the following gyms were represented: Kiwi, Warnes,. Ashhurst, Marton, Otaki and Levin. This also proved a success. "I cannot copclude this report without extending my thariks to the executive officers of the club for their loyal and valued support during the year. There have 'been many willing workers on beha]|- of the club and to those who assisted the club extends its thanks as follows: Hon. medical ofiieer, hPh. auditor, judgeg, time-keepers, doorJceepers, gecpnds, referee and a hogt of stewards. To the boxing and physicai' culture instructors much Kudos is extended for their untiring efforts. Our thanks are also accorded to those g"entlemen whodonated trophies or gloves, and also to those who supported the cost of the programmes by taking advertising- space. ToMhe working bees that prepared the ripg etc., for the tournaments the thanks of the club are extended. This was no small job and the result of their efforts must have been of some sat'isfaction to the workers, as all who attended could only praise the fine appearance the ring and arrangements presented. "Much new equipment has been added during the season. Nevertheless, more is necessary and the acquisition of a suitable building for a gymnasium is very desirable. You will see bv the balance sheet hat your executive appreciates this difficulty, and has started a hall fund which should be greatly increased this coming- . season. Plans for a suitable building have been drawn, while a suitable section has been inspected and can be purchased at a reasonable sum." The balance sheet , for the year ending January 1, 1947, showed a profit of £127 15s 2d. Of this amount £45 9s was set aside for the hall fund.
