Within less than an hour the Catalina was bound from Mechanics Bay to intercept the cruiser. The sick member of the crew, Seaman Boy David Thomas Kite, was transferred to the aircraft and reached Auckland this evening. He was operated on for appendicitis at the -naval base and his condition is satisfactory. .
