LAW SOCIETY PROTESTS
WELLINGTON, March 4. The following resolutions were carried by the annual general meeting of the Wellington District Law Boeiety: "That this general meeting of the Wellington District Law Society draws the urgent atfention of the Government to tlie serious iuconvenience whicli is being caused to litigants aiul the public general ly, resulting from the delay in disposing of cases before the Supreme Court and Componsatiou Court. "Protests st'rougly against any per manent appoiiitiiieiit to judicial oilice of any person who is not at tlie time oi' appointment actively engaged in practice at the bar. "Draws the urgent attention of the Government to Ihe serious slioi'tage of Magist rates in the Wellington district and particuJarly in Ilutt Valley, whieh has resulted in serious delays in the disposal of the business of the Magistrate's Court and serious iuconvenience to litigants and public generally. "Disapproves in the strongest terms of the ameiiding of Acts of Parliament by Order-in-Council or the making of positive enactments beyond matters oi adininistration, by the same means."
