IIUMANE SOCIETY RECOGNITION Richard S. Taylor, the nine-year-old Levin cub - who, it was announced last week, had been awardfed the Scout Association's Certificate of Merit, is also to receive the Roval Humane Society's Letter of Cofnmendation. Richard is the boy who last year extinguished a fire at the Ihakara School into which the sole teacher, Miss D. W. White, had fallen after fainting, and who then ran for a'ssistance. . His presense of mind and prompt action saved the teacher from possible serious injyry. Advice to this effect was received yesterday by the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, in a letter from the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand, which asked His Worship to kindly arrange the presentation of the certificate when convenient. Commenting, His Worship said that a suitable function to make the presentation would be arranged, and an announcement made ■hortly in regard to the details of it.
