AIR SERVICE TO CANADA AVAILABLE SOON
AUCKLAND, Mar. 3. Hopes that the proposed new air service between New Zealand and Canada would begin this month, were expressed by Hir Leonanl Jsitt, New Zealand director - of British Commonwealth Pacific Airways, on his return today from a visit to Montreal. As the result of negotiations with the Canadian and United States Govern ments, .the service would be conducted on the route from Auckland to Van couver and back once a fortnight. Douglas Slcyniaster- aircraft would Ue used. Sir Leonai'd conferred with Govern ment aviation auihoritids and heads of private aircraft concerns in Montreal. His visit proved satisfactory in every respect and the interest ..which was shown in the scheme was most en couraging. He also met represeiYiVtives of the Air Transport Board and Depart. ment of Commerce in Washington where he was also well received. The necessary formality, with which Sir Leonard was concerned in both ,'ountries, was the obtaining of the ticence required to operate^ the new air service in an overseas eountry.
