Kiiled by Horse George Herbert Wallace, 28, sharemilker, Hikurangi, was kiiled yesterday when a horse he was shoeing bolted, dragging him along the ground by a rope entangled round Wallace's arm. The horse was brought to a standstill when it jumped a fence with Wallace's body still tangled in the rope. Praise for College Library That the HoroWhenua College had possibly the finest school library in New Zealand, was the comment of a recent visitor to Levin, Mr. Anton Vogt, writer and lecturer in English at the Teachers' Training College in Wellington, during a conversation with a "Chronicle" representative on Thursday night. The college itself and particularly the srounds, were also subjects of favourable comment by Mr. Vogt. Levin Exjiibitor's Success At the Palmerston North Horticultural Society's dahlia show on Thursday of thi^ week-. Mr. W. J. Summers,- of Levih, was, successful 'n annexing the 'Oarland Cup for giant decorative dahlias. Mr. Summers also secured the champion award' for the giant decorative with a "Pop Harris," and first prize topheavy rhubarb, the largest stick weighing 11b. 9| oz. Child's Fall from Service-Car A child aged 1\ years had a narrow escape from- serious injury when she fell 'to the gravel road from a moving service-car at Tangoio yesterday. She was Jennifer Jamieson, daughter of the Rev. Ridland Jamieson; Napier. She was Lravelling with her mother when he accident occurred. Tamahine in Collision Returning to her berth yesterday afternoon to land two passengers who had boarded her by mistake the Union Steam Ship Company's passenger steamer Tamahine cqllided with Fairmile Q.400 and tore x large hole in her starboard side The Tamahine left her berth at Queen's Wharf at 2.20 p.m. and wa5 not far from the wharves when if 'was disCovered that two passengers had boarded her in mistake for the Wahine, which was to sail at 3 p.m. for Sydney. She ret.urned to her h and landed the two passengers. As she was leaving again she ■■ame into collision with the Fairmile, which was berthed in the -moss-berth between the berths No. 2 and 4.
