WORK QF MR. L. G. LOWRY LABOGR PARTY FUNCTION | A large gathering of friends and, supporters of the Labour Party metj in the Regent Hall, Levin, on Wed-; nesday night to show their .appre-: ciation of the services of the guest of honour, Mr. L. G. Lowry, pasti M.P. for 'the Otaki , electorate, and Mrs. Lowry. Among the ofitclal party were' Messrs. R. E. Downes, H. H. Podmore, E. Titcombe, J. Thorn and Mesdames M. Pederson and J. Thorn. All spoke highly of the outstanding Service rendered by Mr, Lowry during the 11 years he represented Otaki in Parliament. Mr. Lowry suitably replied. During the evening opportunity was taken to preserit Mr. and Mrs. Lowry with an illuminated address and a purse o'f sovereigns. . Items were presented by Mesdames G. A. Hesp and Rule and Misses M. Irving, M. Mungavin and Dunn and Messrs. A. Yorston, G. Lester, T. Mayne, and Master Barry Walker, after which a community ?ing was conducted by Mrs. Hesp. Supper was provided by the women members under Mrs. G. Shanks, during which an ic'ed cake presented by Mrs. N. Summers was cut and distributed to those present.
