Waipoua Kauris The whole Waipoua State forest area of 40,000 acres should be set aside as a forest sanctuary. This is the view of the Waipoua Kauri forest preservation committee as expressed in a resolution to be-for-warded to the Commissioner of State Forests, Hon. C. F. Skinner. An earlier resolution urging that 10,000 acres be set aside as a sanctuary has been rescinded. School Buildings "The' position with regard to school buildings is chaotic, and I ;hirik the best thing we can do is io set up a building sub-committee h go into the matter." stated Mr. W. H. Brown at Tuesday's meectng of the Wanganui Education Board, when the board was discussing applications for new schools. Earlier a committee had been set up to prepare a report on the building programme, and this committee was also asked to discuss the advisability of setting up a 'permanent building committee. Fire Destroys Sawmill Damage estimated at £4000 was caused when. the Kaitaia Timher Company's sawmill was burned early yesterday morning. The Kaitaia Fire Brigade andjnill staff saved £500 worth of timher " stock but approximately another £50.0 worth of timber was burned. The mill was the sole souree of far northefn timher supplies.
