WELLINGTON, Feb. 26. , Hon. F. Hackett, Ministef in charge of State Advances, anuounced today that a new procedure in reiation to the exchange of State rental hou.ses, would be brought into operatiou as from Marcli 1 next. "The ueed for sucli exchanges is recognised, " said Mr. I Hackett, " especially where tenants are transferred from oue centre to another or where changes in numbers of families require an increased or de creased number of rooms as well as for other valid reasons which niay arise. In future the State Advances C'orpora•tipn will facilitate the exchange of State rental hous.es where necessary or desirable, by keeping a coniplete record of tliose persons who desire such an exchange, and State rental tenants who desire an exchange should immediatel'y register at the local ofiiee of the State Advances Corporation. In dealing with applications for exchanges the corporation tenancies 'committee will follow the principle of giving priority to tliose cases where the needs of the families are considered most urgent. In order to ensure the ei'feetive operatiou of the scheme it must be understood that State rental houses can only be exchanged in the .manner proposed.
