FIREMEN AT SNOOKER
FUNCTION AT FOXTON Members of the Shannon 7 Fire Brigade vlsited Foxton on Thursday evening to play a snooker match with members of the Foxton Brigade. Those who made the trip from Shannon were Messrs. C. G. Wishart, C. D'. Gyde, K. Clough, W. Harding, W. Clough, W. S. Forbes, C. Tremewan, F. Clough, and D. Richards. The match was for the snooker shield which is for regular competition between the flre brigades of the district. Foxton succeeded in. retaining the shield after a v.ery..interesting and enjoyable evening's snooker. -The scores of the individual games played are as follows, Foxton players being mentioned first:— C. Carmont 49, lost to W. Glough 64, H. Huff 38, lost to C. D. Gyde 50, G. Hirini: 67, defeated F. Olough 31/ A. Vertongen. 79,: deffeated D. Richards '27.: The : totai points were Foxtoii '233, $hahn,dil- 172. Following the snooker games the visitors were entertained at a delightful supper by the Foxton Brigade. All members expressed the wish that a return match could be arranged in the near future. Cards and quoits helped to fill in the evening of those not playing snooker.
