Personal Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wilson, and their sons, left yesterday for Rotorua, where the former will attend the municipal conterence. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Bert Penney are at present on holiday. The former will •attend the R.S.A. re-union at Hastings, where it is expected that there wiii be an attendance of about 500 returned men. Messrs. H. B. Edhouse and H. J Jepson, who have been on holiday in the north, have returned to Otaki. During their sojourn they enjoyed some fishing at Taupo. Sisters V. Bargrove (late of Otaki) and E. E. Parkerson are to leave for Hangchow by the Nellore at the end of November. A dismissal service will be held for them m Wellington on November 25. The Rev. R. P. Garrity (late of Otaki) has been advised by his doctor that he will not be able to return to the Islands. He therefore intends to take up Parochiai work in New Zealand. He and Mrs Garrity will both be greatly missed in the mission, where Mr. Garrity has put in a number of years of faithful service. They are living at 13 Kohimarama Road, Auckland, in the house which Miss Aitken left for missionaries on furlough. Shop Day The Municipal Croquet Club intend holding a shop day on Friday, February 28, and donations of any' description will be gratefully accepted. Mrs. W. McBeth is secretary. Narrow Escape 1 A narrow escape from senous accident "occurred on the Pukehou Hill yesterday afternoon, when a ! car, rounding a bend had a blow j out and capsized. The driver, the ; only occupant of the car, escaped ; injury while slight damage was done to the car. j Methodist Jubilee After sixty years of service the Otaki Methodist Church will hold i celehrations on Saturday and Sun- > day, March 1 and 2. On Saturday j at 5 p.m. there will be the jubilee j tea, a social hour at 7 p.m., and aj concert starting at 8 o'clock. On-I Sunday there will be special services. ! Maori Mission As the result of a special collection Otaki has donated the sum of £18 19s! " 7d to the Maori Mission fund, Levin contributed £16 12s lld, Shannon £2 12s ld.
