SUBSIDIES TO INDUSTRIES
CANBEKEA, i'ei. 20. , The Federal Govermnent will soon stop the payment- of all wage subsidies lo industrv. This is expected to cause •iinmediate price mcreases, particularly j for wool and cotton pieee goods. The ; eliniination of wage subsidies in the weaving, spinning and clothing industries has been announeed by the Commonwealth Priees Commissioner, Mr. MeCarthv. This deeision is expected to save tlie Government about £1,000,000. The withdrawals of subsidies to the clothing industries dates from Februarv 14 and will applv to all sectionoxcept knitted garments. He said tlnu from time to time dates would be sei ) for the elimination of subsidies in tht other industries.
