POINTS COMPETITION ' Points competitions conducted by the Otaki A.A. and C. Club are as follows:— ■ Senior cycle.— A. Brown (Te Horo) 11 points. C. Blomfield, E. Mathie and D. Hurley (equal) 10 points. . , _ Junior cycle. — W. Wilton 1, D. Smith '2. Senior runners.— N. Gordon 1, fc>. Matthews 2. Junior runners. — J. Mudge 1, R. HiHs 2 Relay. — Jockeys and Otaki teams (equal) 1. Children's Evening Owing to the Otaki cychsts being away in Masterton on Wednesday evening, the weekly sports lacked some of their usual interest as the cyclists generally provide the greater portion of the programme. However. the children had a "night out" and races were plentiful for them. They entered • wholeheartedly intp the evcning's enjoyment. In scme cases they provided thrills for those nresent, the cvcling races being appreciated. The boys and girls acquitted themselves well, except in the walking races. when the majority got over the walking pace. Th° 100 vards junior race proved pn interes'ti'ng one, and in the first heat Mudge proved the winner by ioches. with Cook second and Hohipuha a good third. In the second heat Whelan ran a a'ood race to win nicelv, Hakari bei1"10' second. In the final Hohipuha proved the winner, with Whelan second and Cock third. In another iunior event of 100 vards Baker won a well-judged vace, with Hakaraia second and Lawson third. Otaki, headed by Webster. won the relav race. Whelan's Tainui quartette were second and M. Gordon's Jockeys third. The 440 yards handicap was won bv Julius, with , Mudge second and Cook third. The collection amounted to £2 17s.
