LADIES' BOWLS

"EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY" (Contributed) If broken backs and aching muscles are any indication of progress, then- the ladies of Otaki are on the first rung of ' the ladder of success in bowling. Every fine day sees the enthusiastic members rolling to the correct bias, kissing kitty and shattering would -be winning shots to the advantage of the player's own bowl. The Railway Bowling Club has placed its well-kept green at the disposal of the ladies — two days for a small fee and on other days free of charge. Mrs. Manttan, of'lriand Bay Club, is the coach, and the local players are very fortunate in having such an opportunity to learn the popular game. Mrs. Hewitt, an Auckland champion, is also assisting the- club while visiting here. To the Otaki ladies we wish the best of luck in their new undertaking.
