ANOTHER JEWEL ROBBERY
Received Tuesday, 8.40 p.m. BYDNEY, Feb. 18. In Sydney 's second big jewel robbery witliin 12 Jiours, thieves broke into u Bellevue Hill lionie and stole £700 worth of jewellery, including rings and a djamoiid and white gold watch. Retui'ning home early this morning the Qwuer found the front door open' and house in a state of disorder. Heavily guarded by the police, Ceeil | John Rolls, aged 25, was today refused l>ail when eharged at the Central Court with ihe armed theft of jewellery worth £8500 from a city store yesterday. The police prosecutor said the police believed there was no doubt Rolls was the man who held up the jewellery shop employee and stole the jewels. Counsel for accused said his client was pleading not guilty and had a perfect alibi. Aecused was remanded without bail. The jewellery was recovered today from tlie basement of a city picture theatre. A loaded revolver was also found in the basement.
