ROBBERIES, SHOOTINGS AND ASSAULTS
Received Tuesdav, 8.130 p.m. SYDNUY, Feb. 18. . A. wave of violent. crime has broken out agaiii in Wydney over the past 24 hours. ' As vvell as tlie Iwo .jewel robberies there have been a shootiug, tvvc siashings and oue assault and rpbbery, Three- of Ihe; vietiras' declined t'o'-give" the police information about tlieii assailants. Two iuen passing along a street in Darlinghurst found a tnan lying on the footpath wounded and senii-conscious. He had been shot in the right chest, the bullet passing through the Imig and liver and lodging in the body. He recovered consciousness al'ter a blood' transfusion but declined to help the police lind his attaeker. Another nian staggered into the casualty ward of a hospital in Darlinghurst, Edst tSydney area, bleeding from a deep wound in the left arni. A tendon was severed and he had lost much blood. A few minutes later the police found another nian nearby, clad only in underpants and bleediilg from numerous wounds, A fourth victim was knocked .down in the lavatory of a city hotel and he had £8 taken from him.
