BRIDE WEARS OLD FAMILY VEIL
LUMSDEN - ARCU S WEDDING ' St. Andrew'S Presbyterian Church, \ Levin, was recently the scene of a very pretty wedding between Rene May, twin daughter of Mr. a,n.d Mrs. C. H. Arcus, of Levin, and Lesie Knight, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Lumsden, also 6f Levin. Rey. A, Salmond offieiated and Mr. F. Judd played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted' jpy her father, wore a gown of white cloque, cut on classical lip.es, tjie Sleeves finishing with points at the wrist. Her skirt- fell into a long ovai train. Her full-length vcii, lent by a friend, was of magnolia chantilly lace, over which \ was arranged a beautiful old family veil of fine silk net, daintily embroidered with the names of the eleven brides, including the bride's grandmother, who had worn it during the past 63 years. This was.formed into a halo with orange blossoih. She carried a bouquet of whjte gladioli, roses and paie pink carnations. In attendance as bridesmaids were her twin- sister, Jean, and younger sister, Janette, whose unusual frocks of white Engligh voile, spotted with green and blue respectively and trimmed with lace, opened from waiat to hem, showing satin slips of matching coloups. Halos were worn to7 match and they carried bouquets of flame gladioli, sweet peas and roses. The flower girls, who carried baskets pf flame sweet peas, gladioli and roses, were Ngaere Arcus, youngest sister of the bride, and Jean Sufcliffe. They wore frocks on. identical lines to those of the bridesmaids. The duties of bestman and groomsman were carried out by Mr. E. Pickering, Levin, and Mr. N. Hewittson, of Christchurch. The ushers were Ross Arcus and Robert Parkin. During the signing of the register and at the reception Miss p. Cribb delighted with her singing. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with a 1-ucky horse shoe by her small cousin,' Peter Arcus Moore. . Following -Ihe ceremony a recep'ion was held in Messrs. A. L. Williams' rooms, where over 100 guests were welcomed by the bride's mother, who wore a rust erepe frock, black coat and hat and black suede accessories. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mothpr, who was attired ini a blue suit with matching hat and a toning spray. For travelling the bride chose a navy pin-striped suit, with whjte hat and navy accessories. Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Lumsden's future home will be at Waitarere. Levin. f"1" ..i.l .1. ■ . .i PW
