METHODIST CONFERENCE
IMPORTANT MATTERS TQ BE 0 DiSCUSSED , The annual conferepce pf the Methpdist Church pf New Zealand ppens in Wellington tomorrow and this year several important matters will be brought forward for discussion and decision. One of the chief items on the agenda will be the declaration of the Methodist viewpoint on church union. Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A., of Dunedin and at one time in charge of the Levin circuit, will be elected as president in succession to Rev. W. T. Blight, B.A., B-D-, of Ashburton. This will be the last annual conference in the month of February; in future it will take place iri November each year, but ;.t is proposed that an interim conference be held between now and the gathering jn November. 1948. The effect of this will be that once the November conferences commence, ministers changing their circuits will take up their new charges early in the New Year instead of during April as has been the custom in the past. Rev. H. S. Kings will attend the conference from St. John's Methodist Church. Levin, accompanied by Mr. T. Taylor as lay representative.
