By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. ' An exceptionally large gallery was attracted this morning to the Lower Hutt bowling green to watch che penultimate day's play in the New Zealand bowling . tournament. The weather was fine and warm, but a northerly breeze was rather troublesome. The green was in perfect order. Both fours. and pairs went into action for a start and some fine matches resulted. Particular interest was taken in the clpse fours match between Skoglund • (Otahuhu) and Clark (Barrington) . Spearman (Christchurch R.)S,A.) started very strongly against Rolls (Featherston) and soon had a big lead. In the pairs game Kay (Shirley) and Lambess (Whangarei) had a keen duel. Kay led at the tenth end 9 — 8. Reid (Masterton) made a great start against Brighting (Hutt) and led 15 — 5 with hine heads to be played. Seven, all one-lifers, remain in the champion fours. They are Clark (Barririgton) , Lambess (Whangarei-) , Skoglund (Otahuhu) , Rolls (Featherston) , ' Hawkins (Paritutu), Crowley (Tolaga Bay) and C. Spearman (Christchurch R.S.A.) .
