SHANNON RED CROSS
MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Shannon sub-centre of the Red Cross was held in Laurvig's Hall on Tuesday afternoon. There was a fair attendance of members. The secretary (Mrs. M. Creagli) "eported on the Christmas cheei : ■;ent to sick and elderly folk, and letters of appreciation were received. Twelve pounds of sweets and parcels of face eloths, knee caps and ditty bags were gratefully received by the Awapuni Hospital." A reminder was given to members 'hat the next monthly meeting would be the annual meeting of the sub-centre, and a full gathering of members was requested. It was reported that the response to the Red Cross food for Britain boxes in the local stores was very poor over the past few months, and it was hoped that the public would revive their support of this most worthy object.
