Fersonal Mr G. W. Munford, Pretoria Road, left yesterday for Christchurch, where he will attend the Canterbury show and ewe fair. Mr. and Mrs. R. Parr, Thompson Street, returned to Whakatane with their daughter and will' be her guest for a short holiday. Mrs. G. W. Munford, Pretoria rtoad, is spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. B. Wilkinson, at Plimmerton. Mr. W. H. Southee, Makerua Plains, and Mr. R. Southee, Opiki, left on Monday on a fishing trip to Lake Taupo. Miss Doreen Ward, Buckley, Miss D. Wildbore and Messrs. L. Wildbore and Keith Mitchell, Ihakara, are on a three weeks' camping holiday and propose seeing as much of the country as far north as Auckland as possible. Plunket Babies Popular The photographs of the babies entered for the plunket contest are attracting considerable interest and already a large number of votes have been cast. It is hoped that progress reports will be available from time to time on the voting. Fire Engine Photos On Display Photographs of the Marmon Harjrington fire engine of the type the liocal brigade hopes, to acquire are I now on display in Mr. R. Vinsen's jshop window. Voluntary contribu- ! tions towards the cost of the I engine can now be made, but no ! effort will bc started by the carni{val committees until the opcning iof the queen carnival on MarcL 24.
