WELLINGTON, Feo. il. As from today the' full restrictions on the- use of cement are reimposed. The Minister of Works, tton. R. Semple, said that during the past two moiiths the supply position had deteriorated no.twithstanding the fact tha^ substantial shipments have been re ceived from overseasr Now the holidays v. ere over, fche demand from the ..uilding industry was renewed. The annual demand from primary industry consumers was also commencing and, in addition, large quantities would he required for the new hydro.-electric works .at Mara'etai. It was therefore necessary to conserve availahle supplies of cement for the most essential purposes and it was necessary- to revert to ' the full restrictions provided for in the building control notice IV 0. 21. This notice requires that, without the consent of the building controller, cement shall not be used'for concrete paving, the manufacture of concrete paving slabs, concrete kerbing and channeiling, the construction of paths, terraces; fences (not including fence posts), garden walls, retaining walls, swimming baths, swimming pools, fish ponds and other. ponds, the manufacture of precast concrete ornaments and garden furniture.
