BUTCHERS FINED FOR MEAT RATIONING BREACHES
GREYAEOUTH, Feb. 10. Fines totalling £.'](S aud costs £5 10s were imposed on two Blackball butchers, George Aibert Fisher and William Thomas Fisher, trading as Fisher Eros., for a series of breaches of the meat rationing regulations by Air. A. A. McLachlan fS.AL, in the Magistrate 's Gourt, Greymouth, Joday. The charges were: G. Fisher, four charges of including invalid coupons in a meat rationiug •mvelope deposiffed in the Bank of Australia, Greymouth, and being a co-part-uer of William Fisher did supply meat to Alexander AtcDonald otherwise than in accordance with the provisions of 'the Rationing Emergency Regulations, 1942; also failing to enter particulars of meat acquired by his authority. A further charge was including invalid coupons in an envelox)e banked on Angust 20, 1946, also that on August 30 he failed tb mark the weights of carcases of mutton and pork. W. Fisher was similarly charged with supplying' meat to McDonald, and failing to enteT; particulars ' and failing to mark the weights. Sergeant O. Ilansen proseeuted and Mr. A. M Jainiesou appeared for the defendants. Arising out of the previous charges McDonald, licencee of the Dolninion Hotel, Blackball, was charged on di'vers dates between August 1 and September 30 he acquired meat iu. cir cumsUnees in which the supply of such meat was prohibited. Defendant plead ed guilty. The prosecution 's evidence said'that £2 18s woxth. of meat tvas pto cured through the Fishers' contraven iion of the regdlations. Defendant was fined £.3 and costs 10s.
