^ monthly meeting held The usual monthly meeting of the Women's Section -of the Shan non Returned Services' Association was held in Laurvig's Hall on Saourday evening. Mrs. C. -Guerin pr.esided and others present were Mesdames ■ Quinlan, Allen, Griffiths, Kenny, Veale, Sinclair, Retter, Sell, Morris, Peni, Ritbhie and-Misses P. Allen, D. Ritchie, M. Goley and C. Sinclair. ■ •
The flnal arrahgements . for the holdir.g of a- street day in Shannon on March 14. with the object of raising funds for the providing of food parcels for needy ex-service families in- Britain, were discussed and the president said it was hoped that the pu'oiic would give every assistance to the R.S.A. in this worthy cause.
Followmg the gieperal business the usual competitions were held. In the bloom section there was a much larger variety offering than usual and the iudges found the job of deciding the winners a very difficult one. The prize-winners were Mrs. C. Guerin 1, Miss D. Ritchie 2, and Mrs. N. Retter 3. An amusing competition was also held and Mrs. Sinclair was judged the winner, with Mrs. Kenny second.-Ms-mbers were advised that the progressive 500 evenings would recommence on Monday eveninp' in Laurvig's Hall. The iadies later entertained the menfolk at summer, the hostesses bemg Mesdames' Peni, Morris and Kenny.
