LEVIN PLAY OTAKI
An inter-change of visits between the Levin and Otaki Bowling Clubs took place during the weekend. At the Levin green the visitors were welcomed by the vice-president, Mr. W. C. Childs, to which Mr. J. D. Avery responded on behalf of the Otaxi Club. An apology was received from the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burd'ekin. At the Otaki green the Levin players were extended a welcome by a past president of the club, Mr. A. Robertson. The president of the Levin Club, Mr. H. G. Mackay, suitably replied. . . Conditions for play on both greens were ideal. The greens were in good order and the results proved interesting as games were equal at both greens. On the Levin green Levin led by six points, while on the Otaki green Otaki led by two points. The final scores were: — Levin: Four games, 175 points; Otaki: Four games, 171 points. Individual results were as follows, Levin players being mentioned first in each case: — At Levin: G. W. Wilson, Stannard, Fitzgerald, Sherwood (s) 24, beat Atmore, Evans, Horn, Simcox (s) 15; Telford, F. P. Wilson, Best, McClune (s). 22, lost to Merwood, Jensen, Bartosh, Walsh (s) 29; Williams, George, Hynes, Hosie (s) 23, beat Jenkins, Young, Avery, Hurrell (s) 17; Ball, Hills, McLeod, H. S. Powell (s) 29, lost to Rini, Whitelaw, Nicholson, Gray (s) 22. " At Otaki: Robertson, Moss, Harvey, Mackay (s) 26, beat How, Barrpn, Southgate, McGilligan (s) 19; Young, W. Ward, Nicholson, Walker (s) 14, lost to Noble, Smith, TemuCra, Kearns (s) 28; Stevens, Keedwell, Barnes, Laurie (s) 25, lost to Harris. Osborne, Purvis, Robertson (s) 27; Boulton, Carmichael, Haswell, Hughes (s) 21, beat J. Noble, Keay, Horn, Merwood (s) 14.
