HALL SHIELD CRICKET

Games in the second round of the Horowhenua Cricket Association's Hall Shield competition were continued on Saturday in ideal cricketing weather. Levin were unlucky in losing by four runs in the first innings against Paraparaumu, who batted first ahd scored 100 runs before being •dismissed. E. Weggery with 30 was the top seorer. vLongton captured three wickets for 18 runs. Le-vin set out to pass this total, but failed when the score stood at 96. Seven Levin players were caught out. . . Oid Boys had a good win against College A on the Levin Domain. Old Boys had first use of the wicket and compiled 93 runs, Judd (18) and Stevens (17). being the maia contributors. During this innings, Hermansson, the College wicketkeeper, put up. a creditable performance in stumping four Old Boys players. McFarlane took five for 21. College replied with 33 runs, McFarlane being the only doublefigure scorer with 12. Stevens took four wickecs for five runs and Juno five ior 23. In their sccond innings Old Boys scored 52 runs for the Ioss of three wickets. Sciascia with 37 not out was the principal batsman,. College's second attempt yielded 77 for two, Andrcws 40. Shannon A defeated College B by 76 runs on the first innings in a match played at Shannon. College opened the batting, 1 but the team * >as soon dismissed for a total of 29 runs. Moore took five wickets at low cost. Shannon came back with 105, Tippler (31) and Picard (24) being the main batsmen. Leddra took four wickets for four runs. In their second innings, College hit out and notched a total of 164 runs, the chief contributor being McEwen with 38. Tippler captured three wickets for 18 runs. Foxton lost their match by 56 runs on the first innings to Weraroa. Foxton had first use of the wicket and compiled 87 runs, Mcunsey with 21 being the top scorer. De Castro bowled well to take six wickets for 16 runs. Weraroa Tenlied with a good 143, Ryder (31) and Juno (22) turning |in the best knocks. Rogers took three wickets for 25 runs.
