Othcials who have ears must get iuto line and tliose who have not will travel in omnibuses. If a car breaks down as the "train" moves up a street, it will be the rear armoured cars' duty to stay with it. Only oue daily convov will set out and only oue return, starting at 2.15 at a given poiut in Area 0. Tliose who miss their plac.e in the niorn ing will miss a day 's work and tliose who are not punctual in the afternoon .will presumably have to stay in the otlice. Xobody except tliose holding press cardr. will be allowed to pass unescorted tlirough the narrow guardeJ gaps in the defences surrounding each area. If anyone wishes to go to a doctor or dentist or leave the area for any special reason, he must give notice the previous day before 4 p.m. and will be given guards. Secretariat offieials working in King David Hotel and living in the German colonv area may make a run for it on foot ac.ross the few liundred yards between the two areas, but otlierwise only journalists ' will be allowed to waiuler around unwisely in the outside world. What liappens to thern will be their responsibility tliough th.e Government has promised all cooperation in their work.
