A dramatic develoiiment oceurred in the State political situation when Clive ■Evatt, wTho has been Minister of Tour ist Activities and Immigration, was sworn in as Minister of liousing with seniority over the Minister of Edueaton, Mr. Heffron. This gives Mr. Evatt. ' who is a brother of Dr. Evatt, a pbsition next to the deputy-leader. Before this he was 13th in order of preeodenco. In the caucus on Wednesday' Mr. Evatt and Mr. Baddeiey, deputy-leader were the only two Miuisters who voted with 26 rank and file members to defeat Mr. Hebron -and give Mr: McGirr the premiership. After a clash with Mr. MeKell in 1944 Mr. Evatt was elimina ted from the McKell ticket of candidates for the new ministry and' was eleeted by caucus despite McKell opposition. — - -
