WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. Fourteen people lost their lives i'i road accidents during January, said tlu Commissioner of Transport, Mr. Lauren son, in a statement to the press. Thi. compares with 16 killed during Januarv 1946. Of those killed seven were eithei drivers or passengers in motor vehiclos three were pedestrians, two were moto. cyclists and oue was a eyclist involvec in a eollision with a car. It was note worthy that in more than half tlu cases where the victim was the occu pant of a motor veh-icle, the vehich either overturned or ran olf the road way. "This would appcar to indicate that the cars concerned were travelling at i speed too fast for the conditions, ' stated the Commissioner. "
