SYDNEY, Feb. 6. Undcrground forces were trying to brealc up the British Enipire, but it would survive all challenges, said Viseount Bledusloe, former GovernorGcneral of New Zealand, in a speeeh to the lioyal Empire Society. Lord Bledisloe said that the people — of the Eiupire would stand together and overlook internal differences. Britain, today, was poorer than it had been for 150 years. Australia had enormous sources of potential wealth, and scientists would help to overcoine the problems of climate and soil. He emphasised the 'importance of scientilic. knowledge to the farmer, but said that scientists should speak to the men on the land in terms they understood.
