Monk, seeretary of the Australtisiau Couneil of Trade Unions, this meansthat workers throughout AustraHa wiJT not work lenger than a 40-ho4r week after May 1, A conference of lrfore than 150 inter-^tate deiegates of 76 Federai Trade Unions today enclorsed the deeision on these lines by the inter-State exeeutive of the eonneil. The main proposals are a national one-day strike to be held on llay 1 to enforee tlie 40-hour week and non-partieipation in any basic wage ease before the Co'mmonwealth Arbitration Gonrt until tlie Court's judgment on the 40-hour week ease is announced.
