S*he said that in view of the present number of maternity eases which are likely to increase considerably in, the near future, Xew Zealand must give Xo. 1 priority in its buildxng programmes to maternity wards. "We are faced with. an, emergency of the flrst order/' she said. 'Why cannot we have the same expedition in meeting this* emergency as we had during the war?" 1
