Otaki Band , The Otaki Brass Band has decided to take part in txie band display to be held in Levin on Sunday. v- ' . I Sports at Karori ' . On Wednesday night four Otaki, cyclists, Blomfield, Mathie, Smith and Parker, took part in the sports at Karori. Smith was successful m . winning the half-mile cycle race, i was second in the one lap and third in the two mile. Blom- , field finished second in the : two mile event. Mathie and Paiker] rode well, but failed to finish in , places. Bowling Tourney ^ . 1 The Otaki and district bowleis,who are taking part in the tourna- j ment at Wellington, have done well and are deserving of congratuiations. They have met stalwarts i from various parts, and in some , instancds have 'lowered their colours. Whenever beaten , the Otaio players have not been disgraced. Otaki Flower Show . j The Otaki H. and D. Sociecysi gladioli and dahlia show, to be held at Raukawa, on Wednesday,! February 19, is worthy of every . support, and it is hoped flower and vegetable growe'rs will be well to] the fore. Entries close on the 18th; at "The Chronicle" Office. False Pretences Six charges of false pretences ] were admitted in the Magistrate s Court by Aubrey Lester Andrew, salesman, 47, and he was com1 committed to the Supreme Court for sentence by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. The charges related to the obtaining of a car at Wellington from Horace Lucchesi by means of a false cheque, and- the obtaining of petrol or money from Edwin Silvon Mathie (Otaki), Harry ! Stirling (Turakina), Betty Bourke (Kakaramea), Robert Sydney Lee (Waitotara), and Mollie Bendall (Inglewood) , also by .means of false ;heques.
