FLAX MILL CLOSES

SERIOUS WATER DIFFICULTIES An insufficient supply of suitable water in the Manawatu River loop has led to the cessation of work at the N.Z. Woolpack and Textile's stripping mill in Johnston Street, Foxton. The situation in which the mill is placed has resulted from the cutting off of the river loop by the Whirokino cut. There is no disagreement between the management and employees, and work will be resumed as soon as a suitable supply of water can be obtained. The company intends making alterations to ihe water intake.
