PASTEURISED MILK
Levin Vendors Interested NEGOTIATIONS NOW AFOOT Local milkmen are said to be interested in the sale in Levin of bottled pasteurised miik,. and negotiations with the Wellington Muiiicipal Milk Department are at present in progress, A meeting took place in Levin this niorning between local distributors, the district health inspector,- Mr. W. J. Guinan, and two representatives of the Munieipal Mi'lk 'Depxm^ent, Messrs C. A. Russell and G. F. Bain. The press was not admitted to the meeting, but a statement was released later, which indicated that no decisions had been reached. Before a definite agreement is made, milk vendors wish to seek the opinion of their customers and establish the exterrt of the demand. An application was recently made to the Wellington City Council for supplies of bottled pasteurised milk for distribution in Levin. As a result, at the request of the local milk vendors, the meeting today was arranged by the Wellington City Milk Department. The meeting discussed' the conditions under which the department would make bottled pasteurised milk available to local vendors from the Rahui factory, Otaki, for sale to their customers.
