MARCHING GOES AHEAD
MORE TEAMS FORMED Although still in its infancy, the Horowhenua Marching Association ranks among the largest in New Zealand and each day sees more and more activity within its circles. On Tuesday evening the dssociation's president, Mr. R. Murray, and Mr. T. S. Downes, of Shannon, visited Tokomaru to address a large gathering in the Tokomaru Hall, who were anxious to form a tcam. Mr. Murray spoke at some length, outlining the activities of the association, and at the conclusion of his remarks a number of very enthusiastic young ladies came for - ward and handed in their names for the formation of a team. Although the obtaining of a suitable coach seemed to present a problem to the girls, they are confident that one will be obtained within a few days. The girls will be settling down to serious training, and it is expected that they will be on parade before the public within a month. Arrangements are in hand tc have two teams visit Tokomaru one evening next week, when a public demonstration will be given to enable the local girls to understand more fully the activities of a team. At the conclusion of the meeting. which was 'presided over by Mr. N. Whyte, the two association representatives were besjeged with questions and both left the hall confident that Tokomaru would field a very strong team.
