MOB TRIES TO LYNCH NEGRO
Eeceived Tuesdav, 9.45 p.m. KEW YORIv, Feb. 4. A iniddle aged negro who shot and Killed the Chief of Police of OsawaLomie (Kansas) was dragged by the sheriff 's deputies from . an infuriated mob which liad already thrown a rope around his neck and begun to lyneh him,. The poliec chief was slain with a shotguu when he visited the negro ^ home to serve a warrant in connection with a domestic squabble. A mob formed, and, with the deputies, traced the negro to a garage loft into which they poured bullets until the negro suvrendered, It was then that the deputies intervened to stop the lynch1 ing after which the negro -was liurried awav to an miidentified gaol.
