The recorde# preseutmeut was to the ell'ect that a returu sliould be prepared and published as to the nuiuber of murder aud ijuaiislaughter trials in the eight years innnediately preeeeding the abolition of capitai punishment in New Zealand, with a correspouding compilatiou of similar charges for the eight years sinee capitai punishment was abolished. Mr. Justice Smitli said the presentments would be conveyed to the proper quarter.
