BOWLING IN SHANNON
Bowling conditions at Shannon over the weekend were varied. On Saturday ideal weather conditions prevailed and the green was well patronised by members, while on Sunday conditions were good in the earlier part of the afternoon but rain interrupted play in the latter stages of the day. Saturday afternoon saw Ihe final day's play in the Shannon Club's singles championships. Some ver;v interesting games were pleyed and the results were as follows: — First round: J. A. Roach defeated R. Bibby, V. J. Bateman defeated A. F. Birss, J. Creagh defeated T. Beli, F. Edmonds defeated E. T. Wilson, N. Batt defeated J. Crawford. Second round: F. Edmonds defeated J. A. Roach, J. Creagh defeated V. J. Bateman, N. Batt a bye. Semi-finals: N. Batt defeai.ed Edmonds, J. Creagh a bye. Final: J. Creagh defeated N. Batt. On Sunday afternoon a threes competition was held among a good number of rinks. Owing to rain setting in late in the afternoon the match between the teams skipped by J. A. Roach and L. Hook could not be played. Also played on Sunday afternoon was a match between a rink from the Shannon Dairy Compar.y, comprising E. Hook, C. Young, Junr., I. P. Hemmingsen and J. Alexander, and a rink representing the Dannevirke Dairy Company. Tlie match was to decide the holders of the N.Z. Dairy Union Cutd. and after a
very even and interesting matcli the Shannon rink was successful in winning the cup. The following rink will represent the Shannon R.S.A. at thc Levin R.S.A.'s bowlig tournament next Sunday: J. T. Bovis, V. J. Bateman, I. P. Hemmingsen and R. Hook.
