Points Adjushnent Alters Placings ASSOCIATION'S DECISION 0 , The placings of teams in' the girls' marching competitions at ,ne Horowhenua A. .and P, Association's show on Saturday evening have had to be revised as a result of a misunderstandmg in the method of computing points. ■ The secretary of the Horowhenua Marching Association, Mr. A. L. Dobson, found upon receiving the judges' cards fro;m the A. and P. Association officials, arid checking them with the master sheet, ti]*", • the number of paces taken by 1 hJJj teams in the quickstep section of the competitions had been added to the total instead of the number of points awarded for the quickstep. Another .error was the adding of the leader's ' points to each team s grand total. The competition for leaders, although a separate one, is judged simultaneously with the teams' .contest,. but the points are not counted in the team's total. - The teams most concerned were immediately notified of the errqr . and the matter was placed in the hands of the New Zealand Marching and Recreajtional Association, which, at a late hour yesterday afternoon, conveyed its decision to the Horowhenua Association.' This decision placed the matter in the. Horowhenua Association's hands, • with the proviso that the leaders' points shoulft not be added fo a team's total points. As a result a meeting of the Horowhenua Association was held last evening, when represer.tatives of all teams and coaches were present to decide the course of action to be taken. Messrs. E. E. Tyrrell arid H. Eoley, judge anc( pacecounter respectively, were present at the invitation of the association. Mr. Tyrrell satisfactorily explained how the error had been made. After the matter had been fully discussed, a motion was carried that the leaders of the seven teams retire and decide what should be done. They returned with a verdict that the judges' decision was final, but that the leader's points be subtracted from each team's total and the paces be converted to points. This decision was accepted by the association and the placing of the teams' is now as follows: — Open competition. — Pringle's (Pahiatua) 2G84 points 1, W.F.C.A. (Masterton) 203 points 2, Lustre (Wellington); 202f . points 3, Judd's (Pahiatua) 200 'points 4, Minster (Wellington) 198 5-8 points 5, Herbert's (Pahiatua) 196 5-8 points 6, C.
