POWER SUPPLY CUT OFF

CRITICAL FEW DAYS AHEAD . A sudden power failure at 11.50 a.m. today and a telegram the Horowhenua Electric Power Board received this morning from the Load Controller, Hamilton, indicate that the power supply position in the next few days will be critical.The controller advised the board that owing to the depletion of water storage at all generating stations coinciding with the work of extensions^ to thfe siphon in the lake bed at Waikaremoana, the power position would be critical from tomorro^v. He urged the board to economise in every possible direction.Commenting. the boards man-aging-secretary, Mr. R. A. Frederikson, said the failure this morning was due to the situation which had arisen, and he appealed to all consumers to save power wherever they could in order to aviod further cutoffs.
