AVRO YORK ARRIVES
SPECIALLY CHARTERED TRIP FROM ENGLAND Arriving almost unheralded at Ohalcea R.N.Z.A.F. station yesterday afternoon on a special cliarter flight from England, an Avro Yorlt aireraft of British Soiltli American Airways, glided quietly in to a good landing in brilliant sunshine. Flying as a passenger for the trip was Air Vi'ce-Marshal E. Bennett, an Australian, who had made the trip for the purpose of visiting his brothers in Brisbaiie. Although he did not have the opportunity of seeing tliem before he crossed the Tasman, he expeeted the aireraft "to land at Brisbane on its return trip. The Yor-k earr'ied eight persons, including passengers, and left England on Wednesday, flying by wav of Athens, Lvdda, Karachi, Caicutta, Singapore, Darwin and Sydney. The last leg of the journey was flowm in 61 hours. The trip was smootli except for the first stage and there was no trouble experienced with the- plane at any time. This wa? a departure from the usual run of the airways company, the air- , eraft usually being engaged on the England-South American route. The : York left again at 1 a.m. this morning for Brisbane on the homeward journey.
