MOTORCYCLIST'S ESCAPE AFTER HITTING CAR.

Serious injury was narrowly escaped by a voung motor cyclist, William Athol Williams, of Pukehou, Hawke's Bay, when the motor cycle he was rid ing came into liead-on collision with a parked motor car in the Manawata Gorge yesterday afternoon. The car was parked at the side of the road facing the Woodville end of the gorge when the motor cycle, proeeeding to Wardf! Palmerston North, struck it on rounding a corner. The motor cycle was badly dainaged and the rider was taken to-the Palmerston Nortk Public Hospital, sullering from sliglit abra sions and shock. His eondition last night was stated to be satisfactory.
