SUCCESSFUL MEETING i There was a good attendance at X ihe evening sports at Otaki on ] rhursday, when the track was in very fine order and interesting * races resulted. Also started: Blomfield t (scr). Hurley, Smith and Mathie ] made the pace, and on passing the post on the first lap were well tog.ether. Open 100 yards. — N. Gordon 1, J. ; Matthews 2, J. Sadler 3. Only , starters. Won on the tape. Time, 10$ secs. ' Half-mile junior cycle.— Smioh , (scr) 1, Hohipuha (50 yds) 2. ' Brooks (80 yds) 3. Smith and Hohipuha led the field, racing well together, but the former at the bend had a lead of ten lengtlr;,) second and third riders finishing together, eventually a wheel separating them at the post. Open 100 yards handicap. — D. Honiss 1, Wheeler 2, R. Hills 3. A close finish. Time, 11$ secs. One mile cycle.— Blomfield (scr) 1, Mathie (45 yds) 2, Hurley (100 yds) 3. Hurley led the field with Mathie next, but the former later established a big lead, with Blomfield well in the rear, five lengths! behind Mathie. Hurley led in the! second lap, but Blomfield had over- } hauled Mathie. Hurley tired on the j last lap and Blomfield came away , to win easily. Time, 2 mins. 49 secs. Open 220 yards. — Gordon 1, Matthews 2, Robertson 3. Five starters. Won comfortabiy. Time, 25 sec. One mile junior cycle. — Smith , I Brown 2, Brooks 3. Time, 2 mins. I 53 secs. Junior 220 yards. — Honiss 1, Wheeler 2, Mudge 3. Won in good style. Time, 25. secs. Missing-out race. — Blomfield • - 1; Mathie 2.
