SCOUT'S COURAGE UNDER SUFFERING

WELL1NGTOX, Jan. 30. It was today announc.ed by the Dominion Headquarters of the Boy iScouts' Assoeiation that Lord Eowallan, the Empire Chief Kcout, had awarded the " Cornwell Bcout" decoration to iScout Angus Xorrie, of the Britaunia Sea Kcout Troop, Wellington, in recogni t ion of his liigh standard oi: character alul devotion to duty and for courage under suffering. Angus Xorrie is .1(5 years of age and has been- a permanent hospital inmate since • January, 104(5, when he sufl'ered a dislocation of the spine causing a severe spinal cord mjury as the result of a swimming accideut. Consequently he is only alile to move his head and for many months had to be nursed in such a position that only his liead and shoulders touehed the bed. Througlr all these months, and in spite of constant suffering his cheerfulness, fortitude and courage have been a revelation to those who have come in contact with him. At no time itas there been any jiint of self-pity or complaint from him, "but rather a continuing thoughtfulness for other patients and tke nursing staff. Although completely dependent on others (he himself cannot even turn the pages of a book) he has, through a strong sincere desire to do things vvhich are physically inipossible for him, learnt how these things are done, and were he able to move, would himself be able to do them perfeetly. He is at present an inmate of the Silverstream Hospital and while continuing as a member of the Britannia Sea Seout Tyoop is at present attached to the Hospital Scout Group,
