QUADRAN GULAR SHIELD GAMES The second round of the Quadrangular Shield bowling competir tion was played on Saturday and wins were secured by the Levin and; Central Clubs over Foxton and Shannon. In their match with Shannon, Central secured 88 points against Shannon's 75, while Levin scored 101 points against Foxton's 59. Points to date are; Central 212, Levin 193, Shannon 148 and Foxton 123. Details of the match played between Central and Shannon are as follows, Central players being mentioned first: Braid, E. Lacey, Martin, Bowater (s) 17, lost to Wilson, Bell, Morrison, R. Hook (s) 18; Blake, Holdaway, Sweetmanl Langelan (s) 19, lost to Norris, Knowles, Thorn, Roach (s) 24;.. Poad, Small, Clark, Hayes (s) 21, beat E. Hook, Bateman, Pope, L; Hook (s) 20; H. Taylor, Irving, Hudson, Sharp (s) 31, beat Batt, Karena, Creagh, Mills (s) 13. In their match with Foxton Levin won by 101 points to 59. Ladies' Bowling The Levin Ladies' Bowling Club recently held the third round of the club championship singles and the score now shows Mrs. Henderson with two lives and Mesdames Lacey, Gardner, C. Walker and Stevens with one life. The combined games played last Wednesday, when 24 players participated, proved very successful and all games were closely contested. The winners of last week's competition for the Lett Brooches were Mesdames Lett and Stevens. At the Wanganui tournament, Mrs. Mudgway's rink won three out of the four qualifying games, and in the fourth game lost by one point. During the first week in February a visit is expected from the Seatoun Ladies' Club. An invitation has been received for one rink to visit the Hokowhitu Ladies' Club on Thursday next for a full day's play.
