Xow universally recognised as a piiinist of (listinctioh, Colin Horsley, formerlv of Wanganui, appeared as soloist with tlie London Symphony Orcliestra in the Roval Albert Hall on January 24, in tlie lirst public perform.ince of a new p.iauo coneerfo by Humphrey Searle. The work was com[losed during the war on an Army mess piano. Mr. Ilersley received a great ovation for his brilliant interpretation of this difficult concerto but tlie aud4ence was not particularly enthusiastic over the mnsncal merits" of" the piece.
