APPEAL OF MAN WRONGLY SENTENCED

Received Tuesday, 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 27. When the appeal of Walter Graham Rowland, who was sentenced to death five weeks ago for the murder of Olive Balchin in' j Manchester, came before the Court j of Criminal Appeal appellant's j counsel said it seemed that David John Ware, who was serving a sentence for housebreaking in Liverpool Prison, had fully confessed to the murder. Counsel said that Ware, in a statement to the police dat'ed | January 24, described in considerjable detail the way he murdered ithe woman. It might be necessary j to obtain permission to call Ware jand investigate the matter more i fully. i The appeal adjourned for a fortj night.
