The lighting was c.lean, fasl, powerful and evenly matelied, resulting in a draw of five bouts each. All the contestants fought under strict C niteu Serviee Boxing Assoeiation rules witii the referee outside the ring. Tlie Aii Foree team wTas trained by Warrant Officer Bill Hogg (R.X.Z.A.F.), Aus tralasian amateur lightweight cham pion of 3934, and the Army team was coached by >Sergeant Bob Purdie, former Xew Zealand amateur light weight champion and Olynipie cham pion in 1933. The two trainers liad met each other in the ring before the vvar but this was their lirst meeting in opposite corners in Japan.
